I conduct Introduction to Handguns as part of my personal mission to educate and empower others with the knowledge of how and why a gun works. I love helping individuals understand and develop firearm skills that could be life-saving. Mondays,Tuesdays and Wednesday, I make appointments to teach basic pistol at our local range. I would love to meet with you. I train individuals who have a fear of firearms or have never shot a gun . We talk about how a pistol works, what makes the bullet leave the gun, etc.
Introduction to Handguns is the first step for someone who is interested in learning more about firearms. The session begins off the range. We will spend 20-30 minutes discussing how and why a firearm works. I will review the four basic safety rules associated with firearms. You will understand the components of a gun, the difference between a cartridge and a bullet and why a bullet leaves the gun. Knowledge is power. We discuss how to correctly hold a firearm before we even enter the range. It makes a difference in the recoil. Properly held the recoil is less. Then you will receive instructions regarding the proper stance and pistol grip. Lastly, we will review the targets and the objective for each one. Now, we are ready to prepare for the range. You will put on safety glasses (or your own RX glasses are acceptable) and ear protection. I will provide you with (in the ear) protection as well as over the ear muff. Range time is one hour. Once on the range, we will begin with targets and focus on shooting center mass with the front sight. I provide three different firearms and I will track your progress with each firearm. You will begin to feel a level of comfort with each firearm, as you are taught how to load, shoot, clear and unload.
After experiencing the three different firearms, you will have the opportunity to select the gun you would like to train with for the remaining time on the range. Use of a target that allows movement within a target, will add another skill to your “tool box”. This is a beginning class and follow up classes are encouraged to gain better proficiency and skills. Fee includes training, variety of firearms, ammunition, targets, range fee, eyes and ears. Upon completion of Introduction to handguns, you will leave the range with a sense of respect and personal confidence handling a firearm.
